Jose Enrique Speaks Out!

Only a week after leaving St James Park for Anfield, Jose Enrique has begun to open up wounds by saying how he fears for Newcastle. This transfer has annoyed me the most on behalf of the club, we all knew that Enrique would not be in a black and white shirt come the first Premier League game of the season. So why did we not bring in a replacement and wait until the day before the first game? No answer to that question, just showing that the club seems to want to screw us over yet again in regards to transfers out!

But I don’t understand why Enrique has to make things even worse for us fans. Why can’t he just leave it all alone, he got what he wanted and is no longer a Newcastle United player. He seemed to have his head turned back in January and has been so disrespectful towards the club since then. I used to be a massive fan of his as well, which makes it all hurt even more. Although his ambitions to play in the Champions League obviously didn’t happen I mean he signed for Liverpool.

I think he quickly forgot that the club stuck by him and really helped him develop into a top left back. As let’s face it he didn’t have the best of times when he first joined the club. Another thing about his latest comments, surely if he ever actually cared about the club he would respect how much the fans backed and loved him. But no it’s all about the money isn’t it!

He also claims that Joey Barton will join himself, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll out of the door before the transfer window shuts! Well thanks for that Jose, I just hope that this is the last we hear of our former player talking about the club we love. He’s left and we are no longer his problem!

Owen strikes again with Twitter comments!

@themichaelowen – Twitter name

Since joining Twitter Michael has been rather boring in his updates and not really going on about much at all. But Wednesday 1st June, he started going on about how he would rather play less for a good team than play all the game for a poor team. This is not the first time he has said something like that, obviously referring to his time at Newcastle.

He must be forgetting all of the money he was being paid and how much the fans actually loved him when he came to Newcastle (at first anyway). We soon released that he was quite happy not play and be “injured” all the time, expect when England wanted him to play of course. He will always be remembered as the “captain” of the team which was relegated from the Premier League.

His comments annoyed me not only towards Newcastle, but more the attitude he is showing that he is not really bothered about playing and how this could affect young footballers. If they see a professional footballer is quite happy to sit on the bench and be part of a squad rather than wanting to actually play what would happen to the future of the game?

Michael Owen should remember that being a footballer puts him in such a position of power towards youngsters who play the game at grassroots level. They all look up to footballers and want to be like them, lets hope that none one really pays much attention to what he is saying as it really would be terrible for youth development.

Surely every person who plays football wants to play as much as they can, and that a good player or even a player who sets their mind to it can help improve a teams fortunes with a positive attitude. A never giving up attitude, a bit like what the Newcastle team/squad has shown this season. At least now we have a group of players who are willing to give everything for the club on the pitch and not just line their pockets with money.

2010/11 Season Review

First season back into Premier League (where we belong, I must add) and obviously at the start of the season we were very much tipped to go straight back down. We did not really make many signings or at least proven in the Premiership players. We brought in James Perch who became quite the scapegoat amongst the fans. Dan Gosling on a free transfer, but would be out until at least Christmas due to injury. Sol Campbell who was already clearly past his best, and would just cost us money. But then an exciting new player would be signed on loan (but then permanent in January) Hatem Ben Arfa who looked fantastic but suffered a horrible injury when he had his leg broken after a Nigel de Jong tackle. So those being the new players brought in not really much was placed on them. We had to rely on the team who done so well making the Championship look easy the year before. Not forgetting of course our signing and possibly player of the season Cheik Tiote.
